Kutlug Ataman studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA,
graduating with a BA in 1985 and MFA in 1988 and has pursued a career both as
a film-maker and artist. Kutlug first rose to prominence with video-works such
as Women Who Wear Wigs (1999), and his work has since featured in solo
exhibitions at Nikolaj, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Centre, Denmark (2002) and
at the Serpentine Gallery, London (2003). In 2004, Ataman was short-listed for
the Turner Prize, and he participated in the Carnegie International at the Carnegie
Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, where he was awarded its prestigious Carnegie Prize.
