Thomas Heatherwick trained in three dimensional design at Manchester Metropolitan University (1989-92) and the Royal College of Art (1992-94). He founded Thomas Heatherwick Studio in 1994 to bring together architecture, art, design and engineering. Heatherwick's recent projects include the Rolling Bridge, Paddington Basin, London (2004); Bleigiessen, Wellcome Trust, London (2004); and B of the Bang, Manchester (2005).
