Born in 1947, Will Alsop studied at the Architectural Association in the 1960s and worked with practices including those of Maxwell Fry, Cedric Price and Roderick Ham before joining forces with John Lyall in 1981 and forming a new practice with Jan Stormer in 1991. Alsop's best known buildings include the Peckham Library and Media Centre, which won the coveted Stirling Prize in 2000; the Hotel du Département des Bouches-du-Rhône in Marseille, France; and The Sharpe Centre for Design at the Ontario School of Art and Design, Canada.
