Tate Local: Cutting into Colour – Southwark and Lambeth Residents enjoy Henry Matisse: The Cut-Outs

Over 200 local residents from Southwark and Lambeth attended a community private view for Matisse recently, enjoying a free guided tour and complimentary refreshments.

A special project was showcased on the evening as part of the Tate Local programme with St Mary’s church in Kennington. Inspired by Matisse’s Vence Chapel chasuble designs, the people of the parish of St Mary Newington worked with artist Sarah Sparkes and Synthia Griffin, Curator of Regeneration & Community Partnerships at Tate, to design and make a chasuble for their church.
