We set ourselves the target, during these two years, of making headway in a long-expressed ambition of improving Tate’s ability to collect on behalf of the nation, while continuing to engage and challenge our many audiences. However, we also knew that we would have to devote a great deal of effort to improving our effectiveness and to laying the foundations for the future development of Tate.
