BP Saturdays at Tate Britain

For the second year Tate Britain programmed three BP Saturdays for families and young people, which in 2006 included Tiny Tate (9 July), Loud Tate (23 September) and Sparky Tate (4 November). To animate the Collection displays at Tiny Tate, the 47th Regiment of Foot marched through the Duveen Galleries with their muskets, fifes and drums, while Henry VIII and Queen Sheila prepared for a royal musical party on the lawn outside. The event, aimed at children under five, included magical storytelling, medal-making and sessions with the English National Ballet inspired by sculptures on display. In addition to the BP Saturdays events Tate Britain continues to run the ever-popular Art Trolley for families, as well as an award-winning Sure Start programme for young families in the local area.
