Across all four galleries 82,235 school children visited, 27,145 of which participated in Tateled workshops. Tate Teachers, a programme of continuing professional development courses, ran 65 sessions, from one-off evening courses to holiday schools and MA modules
We also embarked on and continued a number of special projects with schools and universities this year including: VerbalEyes: Finding a Voice Through Art, an artist- and writer-led outreach programme at Tate Britain working with seven primary schools in disadvantaged areas in the boroughs of Greenwich, Newham and Westminster; Coming of Age, a project between Tate Liverpool and the Liverpool Culture Company involving nine schools in the Toxteth Learning Network; and an ongoing research project between Tate Modern and Goldsmiths, University of London which explores how primary and secondary school teachers understand and engage with contemporary art practices and how this can lead to developing new learning methods.
