Tate Members enjoyed another very successful year, contributing a total of £3.9 million to Tate. This included the final instalment of a £1 million commitment to the Collections campaign, £500,000 towards start-up costs for Transforming Tate Modern, and £250,000 to save JMW Turner's watercolour The Blue Rigi, Sunrise 1842. Membership also grew by 4,000 to 78,000, making Tate Members one of the largest organisations of its kind in the world. The renewal rate rose to 80%, those paying by Direct Debit rose by 10% to 79%, and those consenting to Gift Aid went up to 66.5%. A range of new events, including early morning viewings and open house sessions, have been well received. Much energy was also spent improving services online and one of the most pleasing developments was the introduction of scanning systems at Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives, which at Tate Modern has contributed to a fast-tracking system for exhibitions.
