We really value our volunteers. They bring their own experiences, insights and interests to Tate, helping us gain new perspectives and forge links between local communities and our galleries.

Volunteer roles

Volunteers at Tate are involved in front-of-house roles at all four of our galleries, as well as a few behind-the-scenes roles. All sorts of people volunteer – for all sorts of reasons. For some, it’s to try something new or gain new skills. For others, it’s a great chance to meet new people or give something back to their local community.

How does it work?

Opportunities to volunteer come up at all of our galleries. Unfortunately, we have limited capacity to involve volunteers. We mainly recruit volunteers locally through community contacts, though from time to time we may advertise opportunities with local volunteer centres:
