This two part work consists of a left-hand panel on which are arranged, in map-like configuration, the names of Native North American tribes. The names in red down the centre of the sheet are those of the plains tribes. The names given on the right are these of the principal chiefs. The second panel lists the animals and plants of North America on which the indigeneous peoples depended for survival. This work commemorates a vanished culture. It relates closely to 'Land of the Spotted Eagle' which shows an eagle's head overprinted with the names of indigenous birds, many of whom were adopted by American tribes.
