This print is accompanied by print information sheets initialled by the artist. The sheets describe the project: the work is an installation intended to cover an entire wall, the small square frames being spread evenly over the whole wall surface whatever shape it is. Any frames that would coincide with interruptions, for example doorways or windows, are simply left out. The edition size is 46, but each of the 46 prints vary in colour through a gradated range from yellow to red: the set belonging to the Tate is number 46 of the edition, and is therefore entirely red. Buren frequently uses vertical stripes of colour. In this work the stripes are fragmented as each frame contains part of one of the five vertical stripes of red (thus the further apart the work is spread the harder it would be to read the stripes).
