The titles used here are those that appear on the prints themselves, except for subjects first published in the 1830-2 English Landscapeseries, for which the original titles, as given on T03983">T03983-04063, have been retained. The ruled borders or framing lines (as Shirley calls them) used on the later Lucas subjects included in this edition have been ignored for the purpose of measuring the images.

Two letters from Constable to Lucas referring to the loan and return of the original watercolour are undated but are placed by Beckett in the autumn of 1830 (Beckett IV 1966, p.335-6). The subject appears on Constable's lists for English Landscape about this time and also in February 1831 (ibid., pp.444-6). In the event it was not used in the series but Constable was already considering it for his 'Appendix' in October 1832 (ibid., p.382). It is not clear how far the plate had progressed before his death. The print was first published in Lucas's New Series in 1846, with the publication date given as 1845.
