In this work and in the six related ‘Homage to Electricity’ lithographs, in which the same title appears in different languages, Holland explores an image in which two naked girls are seen absorbed in a domestic task. In the first case, the girls seem to be switching on or tuning a television set. In the other prints they are involved in changing an electric light bulb. Both cases reflect Holland's interest in the depiction of light in electrically lit interiors. Although the scene appears commonplace there is an underlying eroticism which transcends the ordinariness of the moment.
