T00582 STANDING FIGURE 1921

Inscr. ‘1921-DJ.’ b.r.
Purchased from the Redfern Gallery (Grant-in-Aid) 1963.
Coll: Acquired by Rex de C. Nan Kivell from the artist c. 1927.
Exh: Redfern Gallery, 1942 (no catalogue traced); French and English Drawings and Water-colours, Redfern Gallery, February–March 1963 (223).

Drawn when the artist was studying at the Westminster School of Art and was under the influence of Bernard Meninsky. Rex de C. Nan Kivell told the compiler (May 1963) that he had acquired the drawing from the artist (though the latter had no recollection of this) and had lent it to a mixed exhibition, privately organized, which toured New Zealand in 1935.
