John S. Sargent, one of Mancini's greatest admirers, introduced the artist to Mr and Mrs Asher Wertheimer, who commissioned him to paint a portrait in oils of Mrs Wertheimer, now in the possession of Mrs Wilson-Young, and a portrait in pastel of their daughter Ena Wertheimer, which now belongs to Anthony Mathias. Mancini gave these self-portrait studies to Ena Wertheimer with a friendly dedication. (Information from John Mathias, 30 December 1958).
