Ian McKeever, Print J - Version VI 1997

Technique and condition
A woodcut monoprint originating from a series of ninety-six woodcut monoprints illustrating twelve images depicted in eight different variations.
The design was incised into a block of plywood with a chisel or large nail. The block was then cut up using a jigsaw and the separate pieces individually inked using two colours, blue and grey printing ink. The blocks were reassembled to pass through the printing press. Pencil lines are visible beneath the ink and it is printed with heavily embossed line work incorporated into the image. The print is in mint condition and stored mounted.
