Etching 13 1/2 × 19 1/4 (344 × 489) on paper 15 1/8 × 22 3/4 (382 × 588) watermarked ‘Arches FRANCE’, printed by Cliff White at White Ink Studio, not editioned

Inscribed ‘Eduardo Paolozzi 1980’ b.r. and ‘A/P’

Purchased from the artist (Grant-in-Aid) 1982

A photoetching was made from an enlargement of a photograph of a circuit with the grainy photographic images of cars collaged over it. The idea of the change in scale from a detail of a circuit to a piece of architecture is characteristic of Paolozzi's visual language. A drawing entitled ‘Parkplatz’ 1979 is illustrated in the catalogue for the exhibition ‘Eduardo Paolozzi Work in Progress’, Kölnischer Kunstverein, 1979 (p.92): it is a linear image of the same configuration. Paolozzi made a number of drawings and trial prints on this theme.
