Argentinian conceptual artist Liliana Porter has created a series of installations titled
Forced Labour in which tiny figurines engage in everyday tasks using common materials that are completely out of proportion to their miniscule size. The sweeping woman shown here seems incapable of tackling what to the viewer is only a moderate line of dust. Porter’s practice has consistently explored the disjunction between the real and the art object and how to represent the world through fictitious processes.
