P11008 PINK TRAILER 1977

Inscribed ‘John Salt 77’ bottom right and ‘AP’
Lithograph, printed by Ian Lawson and published by Anderson O'Day in an edition of 65, 17×25 1/4 (43.2×64.2)
Presented by E.J. Power 1980

Salt lived in America from 1967 to 1978. He frequently used trailers (caravans) as subjects, and this print is particularly closely related to the watercolours ‘Pink Trailer with Gas Tanks’ and ‘Pink Trailer in Sunlight’, both of 1976. For the lithograph Salt drew directly on the plates using the same photographs as for the latter watercolour. Ian Lawson achieved the required colour gradations with a minimum number of printings by using delicate transparent colours.
