Purchased from the artist (Grant-in-Aid) 1983

There were between four and eight ‘Monuments’ and they followed on from the ‘Bomber’ works. ‘Each one was different. It was virtually impossible to “hold” all those pieces in position as the print rolled through. A slow process. Each one was like doing a painting. Each had to be inked and wiped [and] positioned. So each was original to counteract repetitive work.’
