Catalogue entry

Turner’s label, numbered ‘21’ as is the drawing, reads ‘le Arve – Salenche. Savoy’, and may have accounted for the location suggested by Finberg, ‘Possibly Sallanches’. The humped bridge must be that over the River Arve at St Martin. For St Martin and Sallanches in this sketchbook see notes to D04602; Turner Bequest LXXV 10.
The sheet is damaged and repaired at the bottom left corner.
