Catalogue entry

This drawing shows the same model as on the preceding page, folio 5 recto (D01821; Turner Bequest XLIII 5), here seen from the front. This is one of a sequence of life studies between folios 1 recto and 14 recto (D01816–D01826, D01828, D01829; Turner Bequest XLIII 2, 3, 3a, 4–7, 1, 8–10, 12, 13).
Verso:
Blank, prepared with a red-brown ground; inscribed by National Gallery Keeper Ralph Wornum in pencil ‘one out R.N.W.’, presumably referring to the extraction of folio 7 recto opposite (D01823; Turner Bequest XLIII 7) for display.
