Five arches of a medieval stone bridge are shown. There are buildings and hills in the distance on the right. The site is perhaps in the vicinity of Falmouth, Cornwall, which is shown on the verso (D08574; CXXIII 108a), although the sequence of drawings in this sketchbook is far from tallying precisely with Turner’s 1811 West Country route (see the introduction to the tour).
Technical notes:
There is some ink offsetting from the inscription on folio 110 verso opposite (D08572; CXXIII 107a).
