Turner Bequest CCLI 33 a
Turner's journey through Normandy was interrupted by dramatic storms, but he was nevertheless able to sketch in this book at Le Havre, Caen, Luc-sur-Mer and St-Aubin-sur-Mer before stopping at Bayeux. The views of the cathedral towers on this page opening have been annotated with the comment, 'Take all you like Home with you - All Normandy', suggesting that Turner's sketching had attracted the attention of a friendly local.
