Chale is close to the southern coast of the island, north-west of Blackgang. Turner made no recorded watercolour of the church, which is dedicated to St Andrew, but Chale Farm was the subject of a finished watercolour executed for John Landseer; he recorded it on folio 29 recto (D00436; Turner Bequest XXIV 28).
Technical notes:
There is a tear, approximately 60 mm long, running in from below the centre of the right edge.
