Catalogue entry

This quick note, drawn with the page turned horizontally, was presumably made in the course of Turner’s ascent of Snowdon, for which the sketch and inscription on folio 53 recto (D02076) are firm evidence. It may have been used for the detail of a distant river and lake in the large incomplete study for one the Bardic subjects on which Turner worked immediately after this tour (Tate D04185; Turner Bequest LXX h).
