Executed in thin red, orange and grey watercolour, this sketch was evidently made at the same time as the watercolour sketches on folios 14 and 41 verso (D13828, D13856; CLXX 13, 40a). Like those studies, this one also features a tower and a groups of masts, and is likely to represent a view on the Thames near London Bridge. The three studies were either executed in front of the subject, or, perhaps more likely considering the wider range of colour and different approach, based on pencil and brown watercolour on-the-spot sketches of the Thames elsewhere in the sketchbook: folios 10, 11 and 43 (D13824, D13825, D13858; CLXX 9, 10, 42).
