Catalogue entry

Looking north-west up the Dart Estuary from the west bank near Dartmouth Castle (for which see the recto; D08785; CXXIII 237), the opposite shore at Kingswear appears on the right with Dartmouth itself beyond at the centre. For other Dartmouth views in this sketchbook and elsewhere, see under folio 3 recto (D08366).
Technical notes:
The next leaf (preceding folio 241 recto, now opposite; D08787; CXXIII 238) has been torn out, leaving a narrow, irregular, unaccessioned blank stub. Its extraction slightly damaged the present page along the gutter at the head of the book (at the top left in relation to the drawing).
