Catalogue entry

This detailed and carefully wrought topographical study was taken from North Hinksey, a village which lies to the west of the city of Oxford. Executed in fine, crisp line this expansive view continues onto the opposite folio (Tate D28339; Turner Bequest CCLXXXIX 25). This section of the panorama shows the Radcliffe Observatory (see Tate D28333; Turner Bequest CCLXXXIX 22).
