Catalogue entry

The subject is continued on folio 7 recto opposite (D01688; Turner Bequest XLII 13), though Finberg confusingly suggested there are two views, with the other page showing a ‘View of Fonthill Abbey, in the course of construction, from river (? River Nadder). Continuation of drawing on p. 12’.1
For Turner’s work at Fonthill for James Wyatt, the architect of William Beckford’s Gothic house, see the contemporary Fonthill sketchbook (Tate; Turner Bequest XLVII).
