Catalogue entry

This side of the page, not described by Finberg, is now bound as the recto. Drawn inverted in relation to the main numbered sequence of subjects in the sketchbook, the view here is of Geneva from the west, from the cliffs near the church of St Jean, near the junction of the Rivers Rhône and Arve. The subject is effectively continued to the right in the drawing overleaf (D29143; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 57).
For notes on the Rhône at Geneva see D29140; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 55 in this sketchbook.
