Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Numbered by Finberg as folio 50 of this sketchbook, this has since been rebound as folio 58. Turner turned the book sideways to draw an upright composition. Two very similar sketches of trees are on folios 59 and 60 (D04250, D04251). All were doubtless drawn on the way to Paris.
