Turner reached Meiringen, in the Hasli valley, from Grindelwald over the Great Scheidegg pass; see note to folio 43 of this sketchbook (D04700). His main object here was the Reichenbachfall, above the town at the end of the valley. For another drawing of Meiringen, see folio 46 (D04703).
