This sketch is taken from the hamlet of that name, looking up Mossdale Beck to the lower falls to the right, sketched by Turner on folio 33 verso (D11576; Turner Bequest CXLVIII 31a). The present writer dates Turner’s sketches at Mossdale to Saturday 27 July 1816
