Watercolour and gouache, with pen, on faded blue paper (type B) 144 x 192 (5 5/8 x 7 1/2)
Preliminary sketches: There are various memoranda of the Th??tre Graslin in both of the sketchbooks used at Nantes (TB CCXLVII ff.48, 68 verso; TB CCXLVIII ff.1, ?2 verso, ?3 verso). The closest to this composition is that on TB CCXLVIII f.1, but Turner may also have made a pencil sketch actually on this sheet
