Catalogue entry

Turner has rendered the craggy, pitted cliffs of the Meuse valley with buildings or towers in the foreground and beyond. The view beyond is wide and expansive. The river’s sweeping serpentine curve evokes a sense of the continual carving erosion of the landscape.
