Here Turner has made quick sketches of people encountered on his journey: a soldier in uniform, two women and a man. He has annotated the drawings with colours such as ‘Red’ ‘W’ for white and ‘B Colar’ (?black collar) to indicate the colours of parts of the figures’ clothing.
