This extensive view of the harbour at Dieppe was made from the cliffs above Le Pollet to the north.1 Across the harbour to the west can be seen the Church of St Jacques (see also folio 1 verso; Tate D24501; Turner Bequest CCLVIII 1v) and the Château de Dieppe (see folios 4 and 7; Tate D24506, D24512; Turner Bequest CCLVIII 4) on the cliffs with the sea to the right. At the bottom left of the page is a small sketch of a group of figures drawn with the sketchbook turned to the right.
