Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Numbered by Finberg as folio 52 of this sketchbook, this has since been rebound as folio 60. Turner turned the book sideways to draw an upright composition. Two very similar sketches are on folios 58 and 59 (D04249, D04250). All were doubtless drawn on the way to Paris.
