Turner Bequest XLII 96

Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, the drawing is continued on folio 49 recto opposite (D01772; Turner Bequest XLI 97). Despite the apparent indication of snow on these hills, it is more likely that the white gouache has been used to indicate the fall of sunlight; there is no indication that this book was used in North Wales or Snowdonia, and most of the identifiable sites are fairly close to the Brecon Beacons or the Black Mountains.
