This page contains a faint sketch of a valley surrounded by mountains, representing a location somewhere within the Swiss Alps near the Simplon Pass. Like many leaves within this sketchbook, the sheet has been prepared with a grey watercolour wash and Turner appears to have lifted or scratched out dots and passages of white, perhaps to indicate falling snow.
