This view of buildings overhanging a wooded river has never been unidentified, but might be at Uttoxeter on the River Dove; this could have been directly on Turner’s route from Burton-on-Trent (drawn on folio 14, D07149) to Dovedale on his way to Knutsford and Tabley; see Introduction to the sketchbook.
