A very perfunctory continuation – worked only in pencil – of the copy on folio 56 verso of this sketchbook (D04347), for which see catalogue entry for the original picture. Turner’s notes on the picture were made on the verso of this leaf (D04349). They indicate his disapproval of the ‘Spanish figures’ on the right half of the composition, which he has hardly made specific in this part of his sketch.
There is a fold-mark across the top-left corner of this leaf.
