See note to folio 78 of the sketchbook (D05695) for past identifications of Bodiam Castle. For the castle in this sketchbook see notes to folio 67 (D05684). Probably the same vaulted cellar or undercroft drawn on folio 80 (D05697) this might belong to the Monk’s House at Robertsbridge Abbey, which has a very similar room better preserved than any at Bodiam, which was ruinous and overgrown in Turner’s time. For exterior views of the abbey, see folios 64–66 (D05681–D05683).
This leaf is stained.
