Continued from folio 49 (D13667; CLXVII 47) at the right is a row of trees that stand to the east of St Michael’s Church, Linlithgow. At the bottom left of the page are three dabs of red watercolour paint. These may have been made when Turner was making a watercolour study of St Michael’s and Linlithgow Palace from the east (Tate D25325; Turner Bequest CCLXIII 203) as he would have referred to nearby pages in this sketchbook (folios 45 verso–46; D13660–D13661; CLXVII 43a–44), and the colour matches that used in the study. There are similar dabs on folio 49.
There is also a sooty mark at the top-left corner.
