Turner circled Lake Albano and made sketches from several different points. This view shows the slopes above the lake on the southern shore of the lake. The drawing is continued on the opposite sheet of the double-page spread, see folio 6 (D15305), which shows the elliptical expanse of water and the town of Castel Gandolfo.
