For Thun and Turner’s drawings of it, see folio 6 of this sketchbook (D04654). This sketch was made a little outside the town and shows the twelfth-century castle and Protestant church. It formed the basis for the Liber Studiorum plate Ville de Thun, published in 1816 and for the drawing prepared for it about 1806–7 (Tate D08160; Turner Bequest CXVIII F).
