This sketch of an avenue of trees has quite a different character from most of the other pages in the Berwick book, which are generally rapidly executed on-the-spot sketches of places seen by Turner on his 1831 Scottish tour. By contrast this drawing, rather than a rapid topographical or architectural view, contains little in the way of topographical information but demonstrates a close observation of light and shade. There are a variety of tones used in the trees, and in the depiction of shadows and pools of light on the ground. It is therefore more of a study than an sketch. The location is unknown.
