Despite appearing in the sketchbook between depictions of Fast Castle (see folio 49 recto; D25732), this sketch of a towered building in a landscape does not match the ruined castle, and would appear to be another location. One possibility is Jedburgh Abbey, which has a square tower like this. Turner made several rough studies of parts of the abbey in this sketchbook (see inside front cover; D41232), and several more careful drawings of the abbey and town in the Abbotsford book (see Tate D26039; Turner Bequest CCLXVII 65a).
