Continued from folio 9 (D25942; CCLXVII 9) with the sketchbook inverted is a view of Dryburgh Abbey from the south, used as the basis of Turner’s watercolour: Dryburgh Abbey circa 1832 (watercolour, Tate N05241).1 The present page shows the twist of the River Tweed to the east of the abbey.
With the sketchbook turned to the left from this picture is another view of the abbey. The subject is identifiable by comparison with folio 9 and it is possible to make out the gabled wall of the south transept.
